Eric Mangen (b.1983, Luxembourg), lives and works in Luxembourg.
The artist started painting at age fifteen, and decided in 2013, fifteen years later, to dedicate himself to a career in painting.
Deeply rooted in the graffiti movement, Eric Mangen is well known for his colorful abstractions and signature style.
He is searching for balance and harmony in a perceived chaos.
ERIC MANGEN, BLACK AND WHITE PAINTINGS (06.06. - 31.08.2019)
Current exhibition at Valerius Art Gallery !
Known for his colorful abstractions, and after two resounding exhibitions that followed his journeys in artist residencies, Eric Mangen signed a new pictorial experiment. It gives pride to tight formats, highlighting contrasts and games of shadows and light.
The exhibition Black and White Paintings presents the expression of a purified art, returned to its raw substance: matter. Thus, these new paintings are considered as sculptures, pushed to existence by the material itself, through the hand of the artist. Sculptures as if stretched on the canvas, made of reliefs and waves, impulses and rhythm.
ERIC MANGEN - THE AMERICAN PAINTINGS
In the summer of 2018, Eric Mangen traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina to paint a large real estate project using a fire truck as his paint brush.
During his stay, Eric also painted in an ephemeral studio set up a couple of blocks away from his graffiti project. In the first week, 12 paintings were completed! After Greensboro, he travelled to New York to take some time off and enjoy the City. While there, Eric set up his studio in the streets of the Lower East Side to create 13 more paintings.
On the 17th of November 2018 all of The American Paintings have been reunited in an exhibition at the Paul Wurth InCub space.
